2008 Cod season starting soon what rig shall you use

Well you have had your summer holidays now your mind turns to the winter fishing season and catching that elusive fish the COD for some it is to catch a bigger specimen than last time out for a lot of anglers it is to catch the first cod.

Rods checked all over and cleaned new reflective tape added to the tips to aid bite identification at night. New line put on the reels with new 60lb shock leader attached and a swivel attached to the end for ease to attach the rigs.

What rigs to use Three hook flappers, One up one down, Pulley rigs, One up one down Loop the list goes on I have included.

The Portsmouth Loop Rig.

As you can see the first hook close to the weight forms the loop of line with a Cascade swivel in line.

With this extra loop when the rig is released the bottom snood is some distance away from the weight which could have spooked some fish.

The second snood hook is located in the hook on the cascade Swivel which ensures the second bait is behind the first to aid in streamlining the rig for casting.

The rig is kept taught with the use of a SRT spring. Another rig will be added watch this space for more sea fishing rigs,
